...of Lake Philosophy

I don't know how many people remember my bit on the Lake Philosophy last year, but it's basically the way of life at Lake Havasu when I go with my friend ~amywhitewings to her grandparents' lake house on Lake Havasu. In short, you do whatever you want to do, whenever you want to do, because you're on vacation, and that's all the reason you need. Ice cream and enchiladas for breakfast? It's okay, because you're on vacation. Spending all your time sorting beads or watching your friend play Twilight Princess? It's okay, because you're on vacation. Eating snacks at two in the morning even though you know it's bad for you? It's okay, because you're on vacation. It's what makes the lake trip so amazing and makes it, in my opinion, an actual vacation

We left last Monday (the 22nd) for my second trip to the lake house, but this time it was definitely better than the last Not only had I since become a master of the lake philosophy, but I went with just my two friends ~amywhitewings and ~FeneIca, which made it absolutely incredible! The three of us always have such a great time together discussing everything from social constructs to psychology of characters, the outrageous actions of the entertainment industry to fandom discussions. We always have a great time hanging out and this time was no different

The four days we were there are a total blur of Twilight Princess, beads, the lake, and food but here are a few of the highlights of the trip:

London Bridge. We went to the London Bridge on the second day, and the trip was just as great as the first time. Sure it wasn't as awe-inspiring as the first trip, but it was still a great time. We ate Hawaiian shaved ice and walked around the shops, especially the candle shop which makes figures out of wax that look amazing We got a lot of pictures taken, especially a second time in the British phone booth Such a tourist

The lake. Of course, right? I didn't think it was possible to get clearer water than we had last year, but we did. The water was amazing! It was such a rich blue-green color and I could see so far down into the water! From the top you could even see the rocks at the bottom! It was the most clear water I'd ever seen and I loved swimming and just floating in it

Twilight Princess. So, I'll admit that I never actually finished that game I started playing it and I loved it, but I got to the part where you have to "joust" with that orc on the bridge during the cart escort part of the game, and I discovered that I had no arrows. Now, supposedly I can get them from the cart, but that doesn't seem to work so...I'm stuck, and I just haven't had the heart to start over So ~FeneIca, a Twilight Princess pro, started playing the game and totally did a fantastic job of it! She knows all the ins and outs of the game and can beat the bosses like no one's business. So, over the four days she totally beat the game and I finally got to see the whole story of it I have to say the story and emotion of the game is incredible, and I love Midna even more now that I saw how it all played out

Bead sorting. So ~amywhitewings brought along some beads to do beadwork, but they were all mixed up, so for some reason unknown to us we decided to sort out the thousands of beads in her case For some reason we had a lot of fun doing that and it was strangely entertaining. My psychological examination of our actions find that we had fun with it because of the lake philosophy. We had so much free time that we could sit and sort beads, which was why we enjoyed it so much, because we actually had the time to do it Crazy, I know, but it was oddly fun and satisfying to see the piles of colors grow out of the chaos of the beads

Food. Seriously, we ate like constantly We had many meals, each really small, but that's part of the beauty of the lake. Eat what you want, when you want, and since you're pretty active and in the sun most of the time, you somehow manage to burn of most (if not all) of it off. That and you just don't care while you're there

Friends. The best part about these trips is the company, and this time especially. Don't get me wrong, my friend's family was great for the first time, but it was really awesome to just have the run of the lakehouse and just get to do whatever the three of us wanted. We didn't have to worry about the other people there or sharing resources, but we just got to spend time with each other and have a good time It was like an extended sleepover!

So as you can see, we had a great trip It was amazing and I'm sad to think that it might have been my last Being up at grad school in a different state and having to work clinic duty over the summer will make it difficult to get time to go, which really sucks because I love the lake and everything it stands for Hopefully some day I can make it back
